Texas Hill Country Secures Third Place Among U.S. Wine Regions

The Texas Hill Country wine region was named the No. 3 best wine region in the United States in USA Today’s 2026 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. The ranking, decided by a panel of experts and reader votes, placed the Hill Country ahead of well‑known California areas such as Temecula Valley, Anderson Valley and Paso Robles.

The region boasts more than 60 wineries spread across towns including Fredericksburg, Stonewall, Lampasas and New Braunfels, producing varietals such as tempranillo, viognier, cabernet sauvignon and other warm‑weather grapes. The honor follows a rise from ninth place in 2025 and is expected to draw additional tourists, with local festivals, grape‑stomping events and promotional discounts already scheduled for the summer.

“Being named the No. 3 wine region by USA Today readers is a huge honor for our entire Hill Country wine community,” said January Wiese, executive director of Texas Hill Country Wineries. The accolade highlights the region’s growing reputation as a premier destination for wine lovers and hospitality professionals alike.
