Texas housing initiatives receive funding for homeownership and supportive living

Denton County Commissioners Court has approved a $40 million funding allocation to support affordable homeownership. The Denton County Housing Finance Corporation will transfer its 2026 private activity bond allocation to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. This initiative is expected to provide approximately $1.4 million in down payment assistance to roughly 132 eligible families, offering access to low-interest, 30-year mortgages and assistance with closing costs.

In Austin, a $1.56 million Affordable Housing Program grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas, distributed through Wells Fargo, has supported the opening of Burleson Studios. This 104-unit supportive housing community is designed for individuals transitioning out of chronic homelessness. Developed by Foundation Communities and Mobile Loaves & Fishes, the facility includes studio apartments, an on-site health facility, and various resources to promote long-term independence and stability.
