Texas intruder killed in fatal apartment shooting
A fatal shooting occurred in north Harris County, Texas, after an intruder attempted to force entry into an apartment. The incident took place while a resident was on an active 911 call reporting the intrusion.
Authorities report that the intruder was the ex-boyfriend of a resident and was subject to an active protective order. During the confrontation, which involved an exchange of gunfire, the intruder was fatally wounded. The homeowner was also wounded during the shootout and was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
A 3-year-old child was present during the encounter but was reported to be unharmed. Law enforcement is currently reviewing the incident under Texas statutes regarding the defense of habitation and the use of deadly force. The case will be presented to a grand jury to make a formal determination regarding the self-defense claim.
