In Texas, the 50-year mystery of Melissa Suzanne Haysmith has reached a conclusion. Melissa was kidnapped from Fort Worth in August 1971 at the age of 22 months by a woman posing as a babysitter. After five decades of searching, it was discovered that Melissa had grown up in the same city under the name Melanie, unaware of her biological family.

Separately, in Zagreb, a mother faces serious allegations of abusing her son and daughter for over a year. Investigators have obtained recordings featuring shouting, insults, and sounds of physical violence. The County Court has extended a restraining order prohibiting the mother from contacting or approaching the children, who have been placed in a state institution. Witnesses reported instances of physical assault, including being struck with books, and noted that the children exhibited extreme fear.
