Texas Longhorns basketball prepares for new season under Sean Miller

Texas men’s basketball is preparing for its 2026-27 season, marking the second year under head coach Sean Miller. Following a season that saw the Longhorns narrowly miss the Elite Eight, Miller has reconstructed the roster with 11 new players. The new additions consist of six high school recruits and five players acquired through the transfer portal.

To prepare for the upcoming campaign, the team recently held a closed scrimmage against Arizona State at the Moody Center. Highlights from the session featured freshmen Marcus Spears Jr., Joe Sterling, and Bo Ogden, alongside transfers David Punch, Isaiah Johnson, Elyjah Freeman, and Amari Evans.

The Longhorns are scheduled to play an exhibition game against St. John’s at Madison Square Garden on October 25, before beginning their official season against Chicago State on November 2.
