Texas Longhorns coach Johnny Nansen arrested for DWI
Johnny Nansen, the co-defensive coordinator for the Texas Longhorns, was arrested on Wednesday night following a three-vehicle accident in Austin, Texas. According to the Austin Police Department, Nansen, 52, was one of the drivers involved in the crash, which occurred around 9 p.m.
Officers reported that Nansen displayed ‘multiple clues of impairment’ during standard field sobriety tests, leading to his arrest on a Class B misdemeanor driving while intoxicated (DWI) charge. Nansen spent the night in jail and was released Thursday morning.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian described the incident as ‘an unfortunate situation’ and expressed disappointment. Nansen, who has been with the program since 2024, did not attend Thursday’s practice. His availability for the upcoming game against UTSA remains undecided.
