Texas Longhorns fall to Florida 27-24 in second consecutive loss
The No. 7 Texas Longhorns suffered a 27-24 home defeat against the unranked Florida Gators at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Despite an early 17-3 lead fueled by a Raleek Brown touchdown run and a Ryan Niblett punt return touchdown, Texas was unable to maintain momentum in the second half.
Florida, led by backup quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. and running back Jadan Baugh, erased the deficit to take control. The game was ultimately decided in the final two minutes when Texas quarterback Arch Manning was sacked and fumbled, allowing Florida to recover and run out the clock.
The loss marks Texas' second consecutive defeat following a loss to Oklahoma, dropping their conference record to 1-2. Following the game, head coach Steve Sarkisian stated that “everything is going to be evaluated,” hinting at potential changes to the offense and personnel as the team's playoff aspirations face uncertainty.
