Texas Longhorns defeat Texas State 59-7 in season opener

The No. 5 Texas Longhorns opened their season with a dominant 59-7 victory over the Texas State Bobcats at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Quarterback Arch Manning led the offense, completing 20 of 27 passes for 305 yards and four touchdowns. Manning’s performance was bolstered by several key transfers, including wide receiver Cam Coleman, who recorded two touchdown catches in his Texas debut, and running backs Hollywood Smothers and Raleek Brown.

Texas displayed significant improvements in efficiency, particularly on third downs, converting 73.3% of attempts. The defense also contributed with three turnovers, including a 59-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Graceson Littleton.
