Texas man arrested in fatal park stabbing of retired engineer

Authorities have arrested 26-year-old Benedict Chinedu Ogbodiegwu in connection with the fatal stabbing of Andrew James Wimsatt, a 62-year-old retired civil engineer, in Round Rock, Texas.

The attack occurred on Labor Day near a park bench close to Double File Trail Elementary School. Investigators believe the attack was unprovoked. Surveillance footage allegedly shows Ogbodiegwu approaching Wimsatt from behind and repeatedly stabbing him in the neck. Following the incident, Ogbodiegwu reportedly wiped blood from his shirt and fled the scene.

Wimsatt, who held a Ph.D. and worked for the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, was known to several Fox News personalities, including Greg Gutfeld and Kat Timpf, through years of online interaction and attendance at live events. Gutfeld and Timpf expressed shock and grief over the loss of the man they described as a longtime supporter and friend.

Ogbodiegwu faces murder and theft charges. During the investigation, detectives allegedly found clothing and a knife in a trash bag near his home, with the blade testing positive for blood.
