Texas man killed during Facebook Marketplace robbery

A Texas man, Victor Gonzalez, was killed during an armed robbery while attempting to sell property through Facebook Marketplace in the Aldine area. Investigators report that Gonzalez was robbed at gunpoint and subsequently followed the suspect's vehicle while calling 9-1-1 to provide dispatchers with directions. During the call, Gonzalez informed authorities he had been shot.

Court documents state that surveillance video captured three gunshots during the confrontation. A 17-year-old, Anthony Castro, has been charged with capital murder in connection with the incident. Following the robbery, an individual who picked up Castro reportedly told officers that Castro had shot at Gonzalez's vehicle and remarked that he 'just hit a lick.'

Mayra Gonzalez, the victim's wife, is urging others to exercise extreme caution when meeting individuals from online marketplaces. She described her husband as a devoted father of two and a well-loved member of his community.
