Texas midterm early voting sees high turnout in Harris County
Early voting for the Texas midterm elections has seen significant participation, with statewide totals reaching nearly 2.9 million ballots. In Harris County, the voting period has started at a record pace, with unofficial figures showing over 581,000 early votes cast through late October.
Turnout has been particularly high in predominantly Black neighborhoods such as Acres Homes, Sunnyside, and the Tidwell area. In Acres Homes, turnout during the first four days of voting more than doubled compared to the same period in the 2022 midterm cycle. Local organizers attributed these gains to summer outreach programs involving door-to-door canvassing, phone banks, and community-led initiatives to provide transportation to the polls.
While Democratic participation has surged in the state’s largest county, Republican officials noted that a significant number of registered Republican voters have yet to cast their ballots.
