Texas officials and commentators raise concerns over Sharia influence

An Iranian social media commentator, known as Meedaavee, has issued warnings regarding the perceived spread of Sharia influence in the United States following a religious procession in Houston, Texas. The commentator described the event as a “Trojan horse” for political Islam.

In Texas, political figures have raised concerns over religious community developments. Governor Greg Abbott has voiced opposition to a proposed 1,000-home settlement near Dallas by the East Plano Islamic Center, which is intended to include a mosque, schools, and a community college. Additionally, Texas Representative Keith Self has expressed concern regarding the creation of Muslim-only communities and efforts to regulate commerce based on Sharia compatibility.

Reports also indicate that the McKinney City Council recently approved plans for a mosque in a 7-0 vote despite local opposition. Furthermore, investigations suggest that several major American financial institutions, including JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America, now offer Sharia-compliant financial products.
