Texas Rangers extend AL West lead with series win over Seattle Mariners

The Texas Rangers defeated the Seattle Mariners 7‑1 on July 25, 2026 at Globe Life Field, with Nathan Eovaldi throwing seven strong innings, allowing three hits and striking out eight. The victory gave the Rangers a 2½‑game lead over the Houston Astros for the American League West title. The previous night, July 24, the Rangers edged Seattle 5‑4 after Jake Burger hit a two‑run homer and a tiebreaking single, moving the Rangers 1½ games ahead in the division.

During the series, third‑baseman Josh Jung was placed on a 10‑day injured list with a left calf strain, and infielder Josh Smith was recalled from Triple‑A Round Rock to fill the roster spot. The Rangers have now won the first two games of the four‑game set and are preparing for the next matchup with Jacob de Grom starting for Texas and Logan Gilbert for Seattle.

The wins keep Texas atop the AL West, while Seattle trails further behind in the division race.
