Tampa Bay Rays defeat Texas Rangers in extra-innings matchup
The Tampa Bay Rays secured a 6-3 victory over the Texas Rangers in an extra-innings matchup at Globe Life Field. Jonathan Aranda provided the decisive blow, hitting a three-run home run in the 10th inning after the Rangers intentionally walked Yandy Díaz to set up a force play.
The Rays, holding the best record in the American League at 85-57, utilized home runs from Junior Caminero and Richie Palacios to build an early lead. Pitcher Tyler Wells earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief. Caminero continued his strong season by hitting his 38th home run.
For the Rangers, who fell to 70-73, the loss increases their deficit in the American League West race. Despite efforts to rally, including a grand slam by Elias Díaz and a home run by Evan Carter, the team was unable to overcome the Rays' bullpen in the final innings.
