Texas Rangers place Joc Pederson on injured list

The Texas Rangers have placed designated hitter Joc Pederson on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to September 19, due to a fracture in his left hand. The injury occurred on September 12 when Pederson was hit by a pitch from Brandon Pfaadt.

While Pederson initially hoped to play through the injury, persistent swelling led the team to shut him down for the remainder of the regular season. The timing of the placement is strategic; by placing him on the injured list now, the Rangers ensure he remains eligible to return for the start of the Wild Card Series should they maintain their position in the AL West.

To manage the roster, the Rangers activated Michael Helman from the 60-day injured list and reliever Peyton Gray from the 15-day IL. Cal Quantrill has been transferred to the 60-day injured list following a lat strain, ending his season.
