Texas ranked 9th in U.S. for AI job disruption risk

A new SmartAsset report has identified Texas as the ninth most at-risk state in the U.S. for job disruption caused by artificial intelligence. The study, based on research from the Virginia Economic Information and Analytics Division, estimates that approximately 500,000 Texas workers, or 3.55 percent of the state's total workforce, are employed in occupations with high exposure to potential AI disruption.

Major tech and business hubs like Austin are noted as being particularly vulnerable due to the high concentration of occupations susceptible to AI-driven restructuring. The report identifies mathematicians, proofreaders, correspondence clerks, court reporters, and media workers as the top five most exposed occupations in the country. Other high-risk roles include computer programmers, database administrators, and web developers.
