Texas Rep. Brandon Gill seeks House Oversight Committee leadership

Texas Representative Brandon Gill has announced his candidacy for the top Republican position on the House Oversight Committee. He is seeking to replace Kentucky Representative James Comer, who is rumored to be considering a run for governor in 2027.

In addition to his leadership bid, Gill pledged $1.1 million to the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) to support Republican efforts to retain the House during the upcoming midterm elections. He has previously contributed over $250,000 in dues to the NRCC.

During a recent Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas, Gill criticized the Democratic Party, arguing that their economic policies contributed to a 9.1 percent inflation rate in June 2022. He characterized the current Democratic platform as shifting toward socialist and communist ideologies.
