Texas school bus rollover kills student

A school bus rollover north of Dallas in Denton County resulted in the death of a 13-year-old student and minor injuries to the driver and three other students. The Sanger Independent School District confirmed the driver and four students were on board during the single-vehicle crash.

The incident has renewed scrutiny regarding Texas laws governing school bus safety. While Texas has required three-point lap and shoulder seatbelts on new buses since 2007, a recent law expanded these requirements to include older models, though compliance for existing older buses remains optional for districts.
