Texas Southern University identifies candidates for AD and basketball coach

Texas Southern University President James W. Crawford III has identified candidates to recommend to the Board of Regents for the positions of Director of Athletics and Head Men's Basketball Coach. The Board of Regents is scheduled to meet on August 28 to vote on these appointments.

Reports indicate that Ashley Robinson, the current Vice President and Director of Athletics at Jackson State, is the recommended candidate for the athletic director role. Robinson has a significant history within the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), having previously served as athletic director at Prairie View A&M and overseeing major growth at Jackson State, including the hiring of Deion Sanders.

For the men's basketball coaching vacancy, Corey Lowery, an assistant at Seton Hall and former head coach at Lincoln (Pa.), has been identified as a finalist. While some reports suggest the university intends to hire Lowery, official confirmation is pending the upcoming board approval.
