Texas State Fair theft targets terminally ill child's medication
A thief stole a purse containing approximately $1,500 in cash and nearly $2,000 worth of emergency seizure medication from the back of a wheelchair at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas.
The victim, three-year-old Devin Cervantes, is battling stage IV terminal brain cancer and is currently in hospice care. His mother, Kayla Price, reported that the stolen prescription nasal spray was vital for stopping his seizures and that insurance would not cover a replacement. The theft occurred on October 6 while Price was briefly attending to her older son.
Following the incident, a Dallas man named Chris Bailey donated $2,000 to help replace the life-saving medication. The theft has been reported to the Dallas Police Department.
