Texas State men's basketball announces three coaching staff additions

Texas State men’s basketball head coach Terrence Johnson has announced three additions to his coaching staff for the 2026-27 season.

Vince Walden joins as an assistant coach, bringing over 20 years of experience in player development and recruiting. Walden most recently served as an assistant coach at LSU and previously spent six years at Texas A&M, where he contributed to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances from 2023 to 2025.

Nijal Pearson, the all-time leading scorer in Texas State history, returns to the program as the coordinator for player personnel and strategy. Pearson, a former Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, joins the staff following a six-year professional career in Europe and Israel.

Gedi Juozapaitis has been named the director of video and analytics. Juozapaitis previously served as a graduate assistant at LSU and has played collegiate basketball at Georgia Southern and Maine, alongside professional experience in Bulgaria and Canada.

The updated staff follows a 19-13 season and a second-place finish in the Sun Belt Conference. Texas State is set to begin its inaugural Pac-12 season on November 2 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
