Texas State University sets 11 enrollment records

Texas State University has reported record-breaking enrollment figures for the fall 2026 semester, reaching a total of 47,513 students. This figure represents an 11-record milestone for the institution and marks a 7% increase from 2025.

The university saw a significant rise in research doctoral students, with 270 new students enrolling—a 67% increase from the previous year. Additionally, the institution welcomed 14,267 new students, including a record 9,145 freshmen.

University President Kelly Damphousse attributed the growth to expanded graduate programs, strengthened community college partnerships, and increased opportunities at the Round Rock Campus and through online degrees. The university has also maintained flat tuition since 2021.
