Texas Stock Exchange launches in Dallas, challenging NYSE and Nasdaq

The Texas Stock Exchange (TXSE) began full operations in Dallas, trading every ticker on the National Market System as of July 31, 2026. It is the first major U.S. stock exchange to launch in decades and is positioned as a competitor to the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq.

The exchange secured SEC approval after raising about $250 million from more than 80 institutional investors, including BlackRock, Citadel Securities, Charles Schwab, J.P. Morgan and Goldman Sachs. Backed by these financial giants, TXSE plans to attract IPOs, secondary and dual listings beginning in 2027, offering a lower‑cost, faster‑approval environment that leverages Texas’s lack of corporate income tax and a business‑friendly regulatory climate. The platform operates fully electronically, with no trading floor, and is currently housed in temporary offices in Uptown Dallas. A permanent headquarters is slated for the Bank of America Tower, where the Texas Market Center will be located.
