Texas surveillance controversy over 80,000 cameras and AI reports

A privacy controversy has emerged in Texas following a police investigation involving extensive surveillance technology. The Johnson County Sheriff's Office utilized a database of over 80,000 Flock automated vehicle surveillance cameras to track a woman and her children during a search.

Unlike standard CCTV, Flock cameras automatically record license plate information and create searchable data, allowing authorities to track a vehicle's movement across multiple locations. Additionally, officials used TLO, an information service, to identify addresses and vehicle details. The use of artificial intelligence to generate police reports related to the incident has further intensified the debate regarding privacy and technology in law enforcement.
