Texas Tech maintains 3-0 start for second consecutive season
No. 11 Texas Tech has achieved a 3-0 start for the second consecutive season, a feat the Red Raiders have not accomplished since a three-season run 13 years ago. While the team remains undefeated, coach Joey McGuire noted that the current season has a different atmosphere compared to last year’s run to the College Football Playoff.
This season’s start has been described as a grind, partly due to the loss of nine players to the NFL, including six defensive players. The team also navigated offseason drama involving transfer quarterback Brendan Sorsby. Recent victories include a win against Abilene Christian and a 35-24 comeback against Oregon State. Texas Tech also extended its home winning streak to 10 games following a narrow 28-26 victory over No. 25 Houston.
Texas Tech currently sits at the top of the Big 12 standings alongside five other teams with 3-0 records. Meanwhile, No. 9 BYU also holds a 3-0 record and a 1-0 standing in the conference.
