Texas Tech rises in national rankings after win over Arizona State
The Texas Tech Red Raiders have risen in the national college football rankings following a 53-25 victory over Arizona State. The team is now ranked No. 5 in the U.S. LBL coaches poll and No. 8 in the Associated Press poll, marking the highest rankings for the program this season.
Undefeated at 6-0, Texas Tech is one of six remaining undefeated teams in college football. The Big 12 Conference shows significant strength this week, with BYU ranked as high as No. 2, Utah in the top 10, and Houston at No. 14 in the AP poll.
Analysts suggest the Red Raiders are moving beyond mere playoff projections and into the national championship contender conversation. This potential is attributed to an explosive offense that totaled over 500 yards against Arizona State, a gritty defense capable of forcing turnovers, and improved quarterback play. Texas Tech is scheduled to play its first trip to Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati this coming Saturday.
