Texas voter turnout shows high early engagement

Early voting in Bexar County is on track to potentially surpass the turnout seen during the 2024 presidential election. Elections Administrator Michele Carew reported that nearly 301,000 early in-person and mail votes had been counted as of a recent Sunday evening. This surge is attributed to significant population growth and substantial campaign spending, particularly in the U.S. Senate race.

While high turnout is notable, analysts caution against using early numbers to predict final outcomes. In Harris County, record early voting in 2018 did not prevent statewide losses for Democrats. Current data shows that voters with histories of participating in Democratic primaries have cast more early votes than those with Republican primary histories, though this gap may shift before Election Day on November 3.
