Texas voters prepare for November 3 elections

Texas voters face a significant election cycle on November 3, 2026, featuring high-stakes races for judicial, congressional, and state leadership positions. In San Antonio, a mid-cycle redistricting process has reduced the city’s congressional delegation from five members to four, with 43% of Bexar County residents living in newly drawn districts. Notable congressional contests include incumbent Democrat Joaquin Castro seeking an eighth term in the 20th District, and Republican Mark Teixeira challenging Democrat Kristin Hook in the 21st District following Chip Roy’s decision not to seek reelection.

On the judicial front, voters will elect members to the Texas Supreme Court and a new statewide appellate court. While Republicans have held statewide judicial seats for over three decades, Democrats maintain control over district court judgeships in Bexar County.

In San Angelo, Governor Greg Abbott held a get-out-the-vote event, where he campaigned against Democrat Gina Hinojosa. Abbott highlighted his administration's job creation and affordability plans while criticizing Hinojosa’s voting record on border security, taxation, and law enforcement.
