Texfor TexMeeting 2026 explores agentic AI in textile industry

The TexMeeting 2026 conference, held at the Edifici Mirador del Port Vell in Barcelona as part of 080 Barcelona Fashion, focused on the integration of agentic artificial intelligence within the textile sector. Unlike standard AI that merely analyzes data, agentic AI is capable of executing specific tasks, offering potential to improve production processes, anticipate incidents, and boost corporate competitiveness.

Jaume Balaguer, president of Texfor, opened the event by noting the industry is currently facing a “tense moment” due to rising energy costs and unfair competition from ultra-fast fashion. He emphasized that the implementation of AI must be purposeful and directed toward solving specific business needs, asserting that “people are still necessary” and that decision-making responsibility cannot be delegated to machines.
