Textile industry shifts toward regional production and nearshoring

The textile industry is seeing a shift toward regionalized production and nearshoring to enhance competitiveness and resilience. In France, companies are demonstrating that ‘made in France’ products can be economically viable by optimizing value chains to balance local production with consumer demand for accessible pricing. The company Cocorico serves as a notable example, utilizing a network of 38 partner workshops located within 500 kilometers of its headquarters to achieve significant turnover and sales volume.

Simultaneously, in the Euro-Mediterranean region, industry leaders from Europe, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, and Jordan recently met in Tunis to discuss strengthening regional synergies. Organized by the Tunisian Federation of Textiles and Clothing (Ftth) and Euratex, the summit focused on building a resilient textile value chain. Participants addressed global challenges including geopolitical tensions, sustainability requirements, digital transformation, and the strategic advantages of geographic proximity in a shifting global market.
