Textile Museum in Ontinyent closes popular Luis Vidal Corella post‑war photo exhibition
The Textile Museum of the Valencian Community in Ontinyent concluded its exhibition “Luis Vidal Corella. Crónica fotográfica de la posguerra en Valencia” after several weeks of strong public interest. The show displayed around 200 photographs, about 80 of them unpublished, documenting Valencian life from 1914 to 1959, including the proclamation of the Second Republic, the Civil War, Francoist repression and everyday post‑war scenes. It was promoted by the Memòria Democràtica delegation of the Diputació de València, coordinated by Natàlia Enguix, and curated by Ester Medáni together with Luis Vidal Ayala, the photographer’s grandson. Complementary activities included a cycle of twelve guided tours—six for schools and six for families—each fully booked, and a literary‑memory series presenting books on the Civil War and its aftermath. Municipal tourism and museums councilor M.ª José Alhambra praised the exhibition for attracting seniors and families and for bringing contemporary Valencian history to a wide audience.
