TextNow launches national ad campaign featuring Katt Williams

App‑based wireless provider TextNow rolled out its first nationwide advertising campaign, titled “Way Too Smart To Pay Dumb.” The spots star comedian Katt Williams, who urges consumers to reject traditional cellphone contracts and hidden fees. The ads also feature the late rapper Nip‑sey Hussle’s song “U See Us,” linking the message to themes of ownership and independence.

TextNow promotes a flexible, on‑demand pricing model that lets users add data from $1.99 per day to unlimited plans, all delivered over the company’s 5G network. Founded in Waterloo, Ontario in 2009, the service operates in both Canada and the United States, with offices in San Francisco. CEO Derek Ting said the campaign reflects the brand’s goal of giving people control over their phone plans.
