Teyana Taylor to direct debut film ‘Get Lite’

Teyana Taylor is set to make her feature directorial debut with the dance film ‘Get Lite’. The movie stars Storm Reid and Ceyair Wright, a former NFL player turned actor. The plot centers on a sheltered dance student who discovers inspiration and community through the Litefeet dance style within the New York City subway system.

The cast also includes Leslie Odom, Jr. and Oscar nominee Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor. Other confirmed cast members include Woody McClain, Khayr Bullock, and Tylil James, while Jodie Turner-Smith and Asante Blackk are in negotiations for roles.

Production is scheduled to begin this month in New York City. The film is based on a screenplay by Maurice Williams, derived from an Eric Gross spec script. It is slated for a wide theatrical release on August 20, 2027.
