Tezonapa parents protest decade-long teacher shortage in Veracruz

Parents from the Laguna Chica community in Tezonapa traveled to Xalapa to protest before the Veracruz Ministry of Education (SEV) regarding a decade-long shortage of teachers at the ‘Justo Sierra’ Telesecundaria school.

The institution currently lacks three teachers required to complete its staff. Parents report that the shortage is a recurring issue every school year, leaving students without instructors and forcing the school director to manage administrative duties while attempting to oversee unsupervised classrooms.

Protesters stated that despite previous demonstrations, including street closures and school occupations, authorities have failed to fulfill promises of resolution. Families claim they are repeatedly told to wait 15 to 20 days for solutions that never materialize.
