TF1 acquires British comedy format ‘Taskmaster’ for French television

TF1 has acquired the rights to the hit British comedy format ‘Taskmaster’ as part of a strategic push into premium unscripted entertainment. Created by comedian Alex Horne and launched in the UK in 2015, the show features five celebrities competing in a series of absurd and unpredictable challenges.

French television personality Camille Combal will host the adaptation and serve as the Taskmaster’s assistant. To prepare for the launch, Combal and TF1 teams have collaborated closely with the original British production crew, including two visits to the UK set to study their expertise.

The format has already seen success in approximately 15 territories outside the UK, including a high-performing Dutch version on RTL4. TF1 aims to use these interactive and lighthearted programs to engage families and younger viewers in a fragmented media market.
