Tåg i Bergslagen faces uncertainty over delayed state funding

Tåg i Bergslagen, a regional rail operator, has expressed criticism regarding the lack of state funding decisions for the upcoming year. With only four months remaining before the next traffic year begins in December, the company reports it has yet to receive a response from Trafikverket concerning its application for interregional train traffic subsidies.

Maja Rapp, CEO of Tåg i Bergslagen, stated that the delay makes it impossible to plan traffic responsibly, noting that the company needs long-term certainty to invest in vehicles, order traffic, and plan personnel. Nina Höijer, board chair, added that making decisions without knowing the financial conditions is not a sustainable way to manage essential public transport.

The company, which operates routes across the Dalarna, Gävleborg, Örebro, and Västmanland regions, has reached out to Infrastructure Minister Andreas Carlsson but has not received a decision.
