TG SAFE conducts food safety raids in Hyderabad cafes

The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) conducted a special food safety enforcement drive across 19 cafes, hotels, and snack points in Hyderabad’s Core Urban Region. Nine enforcement teams, consisting of Food Safety Officers and police personnel, carried out the inspections to address violations regarding hygiene, licensing, storage, and sanitation.

As a result of the raids, Dreamz Cafeteria in Bagh Lingampally and Asiatic Cafe in Panjagutta were closed for operating without valid FSSAI licenses or registrations. Additionally, the FSSAI license of Shadab Hotel in Madina was suspended, and management was ordered to cease operations due to multiple violations involving hygiene, pest control, and food storage practices.

Inspectors reported several sanitary issues, including cockroach and housefly infestations, improper food labeling, and the presence of expired or spoiled food. Officials seized items suspected of adulteration, such as tea powder and ginger garlic paste, and collected 15 food samples for laboratory analysis. Show cause notices and improvement notices are being issued to various other establishments, including Café Persia, Bahar Biryani Café, and Nimra Café and Bakery.
