Thủ Thiêm New Urban Area undergoes major infrastructure development

The Thủ Thiêm New Urban Area in Ho Chi Minh City is seeing significant infrastructure progress, highlighted by the construction of a pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River. A 3,400-ton, 187-meter steel arch segment is being transported from Vũng Tàu to the site, with the bridge expected to be joined on October 21.

Other large-scale projects in the area include the Central Square and Ho Chi Minh City Administrative Center, valued at nearly 30 trillion VND and slated for completion by 2028. Additionally, the 6km Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem Metro Line (Line 2) is under development with an investment of approximately 36,744 trillion VND, expected to operate by the third quarter of 2030. The Lotte Eco Smart City Thu Thiem project is also set to resume construction on October 23.

Experts suggest that if transport, commercial, and service infrastructure are implemented synchronously, Thủ Thiêm can serve as a new growth pole for the city, functioning as a multi-functional urban center rather than just a collection of real estate projects.
