Thabo Rametsi Cast as Hugh Masekela in Bill Condon's 'The Road Home

South African actor Thabo Rametsi has been announced as the lead in Bill Condon's upcoming film *The Road Home*, portraying jazz legend Hugh Masekela. The production, which is filming in South Africa, is backed by Canal+, Studiocanal, Flora Film and South African co‑producer Blue Ice.

The biopic explores Masekela’s role in the anti‑apartheid movement and his collaboration with fellow exile Miriam "Mama Africa" Makeba, set against the controversy surrounding Paul Simon’s Graceland tour. The cast also includes Academy Award nominees Cynthia Erivo as Miriam Makeba and Guy Pearce as Archbishop Trevor Huddleston, with Johnny Flynn playing Paul Simon. Rametsi said he feels honored to bring Masekela’s story to the screen and has been studying the musician’s life in preparation for the role.
