Thach Duc Manh Gives Parents 10 Million‑VND Piggy Bank at Graduation

Thach Duc Manh, a 20‑year‑old KhmerVietnamese graduate of the Khmer Language Teaching program at Tra Vinh University, surprised his parents on 26 July by presenting them with an earthen pig that contained more than 10 million VND. The money was saved over four years of university studies while he worked as a tutor and sold shoes online, earning up to 7 million VND per month. His parents, who work as a mason and a homemaker in Vinh Long, were moved by the gesture and decided to keep the pig as a future fund for home repairs.

Manh, the second of three children in a low‑income family, raised the pig from a single starter animal, using the savings to cover daily expenses and gradually building the nest egg. The heartfelt moment was captured on video and shared widely on social media, highlighting the son’s gratitude and the family’s modest aspirations.
