Thai Airways former CEO denies wine procurement corruption
Chai Eamsiri, the former CEO of Thai Airways, has denied allegations of corruption regarding the procurement of wine for the airline. The allegations surfaced following his removal from the position by the board on October 2.
The investigation centers on the purchase of 860,000 bottles of wine from a single supplier, valued at more than 800 million baht. While Eamsiri was dismissed following operational disruptions during Bangkok floods, the wine procurement issue has led to the establishment of a specific investigative committee.
In a statement released via Facebook, Eamsiri maintained that the procurement process strictly adhered to internal regulations and company procedures. He stated that he is prepared to undergo any audit and emphasized that he has maintained a clean professional record throughout his 41-year career. He urged that facts be determined through formal investigations rather than media speculation.
