Thai authorities dismantle multiple scam and illegal lending networks

Thai law enforcement has conducted several major operations targeting transnational cybercrime and illegal financial networks. In a border operation, officials discovered a 350-meter high-speed fiber-optic cable running from a rural Thai house directly into a scam compound in Myanmar, used to facilitate large-scale cyber fraud and human trafficking.

In Bangkok, police arrested 10 Chinese and South Korean nationals operating a sophisticated call center scam. The group used tourist visas to establish their headquarters, where they utilized forged Korean government documents and fake arrest warrants to pressure victims into transferring funds. Authorities seized computers, mobile phones, and fraudulent documents during the raid.

Additionally, cyber police in Phitsanulok arrested six individuals linked to an illegal lending network. The operation targeted a system involving approximately 1,000 borrowers and monthly transactions exceeding 10 million baht. The suspects, who recruited victims via social media, face charges of operating an unlicensed lending business and charging excessive interest.
