Thai authorities probe Israeli-linked nominee network in Pattaya
Thailand’s Department of Special Investigation (DSI) is investigating a suspected network of illegal foreign-controlled businesses in Chonburi and Pattaya. The probe centers on Israeli investor Maimon David Marciano, who is suspected of using Thai citizens as nominees to bypass national laws that restrict foreign land ownership.
Authorities have summoned ten witnesses, including company founders and financial staff, to testify regarding the operations of at least 14 real estate-related companies. Investigators are working to determine if these entities were legitimate enterprises or merely shell companies established to hold massive property assets, valued at billions of baht, on behalf of foreign interests.
The investigation follows coordinated raids conducted in August at three locations in the Banglamung and Pattaya areas, which resulted in the seizure of documents linked to extensive real estate holdings. Specific businesses under review include KT International Law and Business, Cozy Beach View, and Lotus Paradise Development.
