Thai film “Bua” selected for Busan International Film Festival
The Thai film “Bua” has been selected for the Vision – Asia program at the 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). The festival is scheduled to take place from October 6–15, 2026, in Busan, South Korea.
“Bua” is a coming-of-age story set in the 1970s, following a young girl's journey to Bangkok in search of her missing mother. The film explores themes of hardship and personal growth during a transformative period in Thai history. It is a co-production between Shinesaeng Ad. Venture, Kongkiat Production, and North Star Production.
The film is co-directed by Inthira Charoenpura and Phensiri Klungsurin, starring newcomers Jory Orapreya and Van Chanintorn. “Bua” is one of only 11 Asian films selected for the Vision – Asia program, which aims to showcase contemporary Asian cinematic perspectives on an international stage.
