Thai financial institutions report strong nine-month profits
Major Thai financial entities reported robust performance for the first nine months of 2026, despite economic headwinds such as high household debt and uneven recovery.
TMBThanachart Bank (ttb) recorded a net profit of 16,139 million baht for the nine-month period, with a third-quarter profit of 5,457 million baht. The bank reported a controlled non-performing loan (NPL) ratio of 2.88%. To mitigate the impact of recent flooding, ttb has implemented the ‘Tang Lak’ project to assist business, SME, and retail customers, estimating that participating loans will not exceed 1% of its total portfolio.
Krungthai Card (KTC) reported a nine-month net profit of 6,521 million baht, including a third-quarter profit of 2,125 million baht, representing an 8.9% year-on-year increase. KTC maintained a low NPL ratio of 1.92% while expanding its market share in credit cards and spending volume. The company is focusing on cost management and expanding into digital insurance brokerage and debt collection services.
