Thai government confirms flood relief for Khlong Chan residents
The Thai government has confirmed that residents of the Khlong Chan housing community in the Bang Kapi district of Bangkok are eligible for flood relief payments. Deputy Government Spokesperson Ploytalay Lakmisaengchan stated that households where residential areas have been surrounded by water for more than seven consecutive days will receive 5,000 baht in compensation.
The criteria also extend to residents of high-rise buildings, such as condos or apartments, if they have been impacted by travel or lifestyle disruptions due to flooding for more than seven days, even if the water has not reached their specific floor. This payment is separate from compensation for cases where water enters the home.
Additionally, flood victims in Bangkok may seek further assistance from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, including medical expenses, basic living costs, and consolation funds. Residents can apply in person at their local district office or through community leaders and local officials.
