Thai government says Social Security Board election only delayed by court order

The Thai government clarified that it did not claim the court ordered a postponement of the Social Security Board (SSB) election. Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, Ying Patdarasmi Thongsului, said the Ministry of Labor never stated a court order to postpone the vote.

The Central Administrative Court issued a temporary protective order that suspends enforcement of a registration condition, requiring authorities to review the election process. This caused a temporary delay, not a cancellation, and does not affect the rights of employers or insured persons.

The government will appeal the protective order, adjust its plans to comply with legal requirements, and aim to hold the SSB board election as soon as possible.
