Thai Government’s “Thai Help Thai Plus 60/40” Program Disburses 86.4 billion Baht in First Two Months
The Thai government’s “Thai Help Thai Plus 60/40” scheme, approved on 19 May 2024, aims to ease household cost‑of‑living pressures by having the state cover 60 % of eligible expenses and citizens pay the remaining 40 %. By 31 July 2024, the programme had circulated 86.44 billion baht, of which 49.60 billion baht was contributed by the government and 36.84 billion baht by participants.
More than 26 million citizens have used the benefit and 1,192,636 small retailers have enrolled, including 977,059 shops verified through the “Thung Ngern” app and 215,577 new merchants registered via Krung Thai Bank. Spending has been dominated by traditional outlets (about 96.6 % of total), with food‑delivery platforms accounting for roughly 3.4 %. The programme is intended to boost purchasing power, expand digital payments and provide AI‑driven business analytics to small merchants. Benefits remain available until 30 September 2026.
