Thai Help Thai Plus program gains mixed public support, NIDA poll shows

The NIDA Poll surveyed 1,850 Thai adults between 16‑21 July 2026 about participation in the government’s Thai Help Thai Plus scheme. Overall, 71.35% reported joining the programme – 42.12% as ordinary consumers, 25.19% as non‑participants, and the remainder as merchants or both.

Among participants, 42.12% said the scheme greatly increased their income from trade, another 39.52% said it helped somewhat, while smaller shares saw little or no benefit. Regarding household expenses, 48.92% reported a strong saving effect and 40.61% a moderate one. On broader economic impact, 45.09% felt the programme considerably stimulated the economy, with 33.74% seeing a moderate boost.

When asked whether the benefits influenced their political stance, 33.24% remained undecided about supporting the government, 26.81% said the programme made them more likely to back the government, 25.43% said it did not affect their view, and 14.23% would support the government regardless of the scheme.
