Thai King and Queen to make historic state visit to Vietnam

The upcoming state visit to Vietnam by the King and Queen of Thailand marks a historic milestone in bilateral relations. According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung, this is the first state visit by a Thai monarch and queen since the two nations established diplomatic ties in 1976.

The visit coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the first anniversary of the elevation of ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This period has seen a high frequency of high-level exchanges, including visits from Vietnam’s General Secretary and President To Lam to Thailand in May, and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to Vietnam in June.

Economic cooperation remains a priority, with both nations aiming to reach a bilateral trade target of $25 billion. The new strategic framework is expected to drive deeper collaboration in high-tech sectors, culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges, further strengthening the partnership within the ASEAN framework.
